Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Limited availability, for those it is suited for
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is offered on a limited basis, for clients for whom it is clinically appropriate. It is not part of standard treatment at Soho Integrative Collective.
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy can offer a different path when traditional therapy alone has not created enough movement. Dr. Laura Faiwiszewski works alongside patients who are receiving ketamine through a separate medical provider, collaborating with both the patient and prescribing provider to support the therapeutic process before, during, and after treatment.
What Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy Is
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy pairs a medically supervised medicine session with the psychotherapy around it - preparation before, and the integration work afterwards that turns an experience into change. The therapy is the treatment; the medicine is one part of it. *
Therapy is what helps turn the ketamine experience into something meaningful and usable. It gives you support to prepare for what may come up, understand the thoughts, emotions, or memories that emerge, and integrate those insights into lasting changes in how you feel and live.
Who It May Suit
KAP may be a good fit for people with treatment-resistant depression or those who have made progress in therapy but still feel stuck in persistent emotional patterns. It can be especially helpful for people who are open to a more experiential approach and are able to participate in both the preparation and integration work surrounding ketamine treatment.
How It Fits Our Integrative Approach
We see ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) as one part of a broader therapeutic process, not a standalone treatment. When appropriate, Dr. Faiwiszewski may integrate it with approaches such as EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and somatic or experiential work, depending on what is most useful at each stage of treatment.
Safety and Medical Screening
Ketamine treatment is provided and medically managed by a separate, selected ketamine provider. That provider will determine whether ketamine is medically appropriate for you, complete any required screening, and oversee prescribing and medical monitoring. Dr. Faiwiszewski will collaborate with the provider so that the medical and therapeutic parts of your care are coordinated.
Preparation, Session, Integration
KAP typically has three parts: preparing for the ketamine experience, the session itself, and the integration work that follows. Preparation helps clarify what you hope to explore, while integration helps you process what came up and connect the experience to meaningful changes in your life.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- Is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy part of standard treatment here?
- No. It is offered on a limited basis, for clients for whom it is clinically appropriate, and it is never the default starting point.
- What does the process involve?
- Preparation sessions help establish intention and readiness, followed by a medically supervised ketamine session and integration sessions afterward. The number of ketamine sessions varies depending on the medical provider and treatment plan. Integration is where you process what came up and connect the experience to meaningful therapeutic change.
- Who might it suit?
- It is considered where treatment-resistant depression, entrenched patterns or long-standing trauma have not been resolved through therapy alone. Suitability is decided carefully, case by case.
- Is it safe?
- Safety depends on appropriate medical screening, supervision, and coordination of care. Dr. Faiwiszewski is selective about the ketamine providers she collaborates with and will only work alongside providers who conduct appropriate medical screening, supervise ketamine sessions, and communicate with her as part of a coordinated treatment plan. The medical provider is responsible for determining whether ketamine is appropriate for you and for overseeing the medication itself, while Dr. Faiwiszewski focuses on the psychotherapy before, during, and after treatment.
- Do I need to already have a ketamine provider to start KAP?
- No. Dr. Faiwiszewski is well connected within the ketamine treatment community and sees helping you find the right medical provider as part of the process. She can help connect you with a provider who is appropriate for your needs and meets a high standard of care, and will collaborate with that provider throughout your treatment.
- How does it fit with the rest of your work?
- Where it is appropriate, it is sequenced alongside EMDR, clinical hypnosis and somatic work, in the order your nervous system is ready for.
